I've officially made it into my third week in the city! It truly has been a whirlwind of a time. I've been on the active hunt for a job ever since April, and decided to move to the city jobless, so having 3 interviews in one week was a blessing. One of the companies I was contacted by was Crown Publishing - a division of Penguin Random House - for their Designer position. What a dream! I've loved reading and collecting books ever since I was a child so this opportunity to design book covers was huge. I went on my first 2 interviews, which went well, but I knew I had my Crown interview coming up so I selfishly used the first 2 as practice. Thursday finally came and I met with Jessie, the Art Director for Crown, and I instantly wanted to be her best friend. She was so nice and made me feel at ease. She showed me a big stack of books she had recently worked on and I recognized some of the authors! We also both have the same Enneagram type so I knew it was meant to be.
This Monday, I got a call from Penguin Random House asking if I could come in for a 2nd interview. Of course I was stoked about that. I met with HR and Chris Brand, the VP/Creative Director for Crown Publishing. My 2nd interview just made me love it there even more, which I didn't think was possible. I prayed that if God wanted this door to open that He would open it. Flash forward to this morning and I found out that...
I GOT THE JOB.
I am now a Junior Designer at Penguin Random House! What an answered prayer.
